I heard this place being the best in the Charleston area and decided to go there for dinner today. The staff are from Northeastern China, and they are very nice. I tried 3 dishes that are native to Northeastern China where I come from. They are all authentic and delicious. Downside of this restaurant is that it's more of a take-out place than a decent place to sit down, eat and enjoy. There are only 4 or 5 tables. The bowls and cups are disposable. So are the plates on which rice is served.

Best Chinese food in Mount P, hands down. Was always our go-to spot when we lived nearby, but now we make the extra drive from the new hood because nothing else compares! Their curry is just out of this world. I believe we went with the Green Chicken Curry. Loved the crispy sesame beef too. Their non-fried spring rolls are super fresh. And, you can't order Chinese without throwing a General Tso's in there!

This restaurant offers good Chinese food at just about the cheapest price anywhere in Mount p/Charleston region. I have been there twice and I ordered the chicken with mushrooms and the chicken cashew. Both were really good-not mind blowing but tasted just like I expect Chinese food to taste. It's standard brown sauce that comes with both and fried rice. For lunch, my total was $5.25 including tax- what a steal!! I mean, I don't to loose money on this. -said in a creepy Jim Gaffigan voice. They don't understand English so don't try asking any hard questions. They respond very well to "cashew chicken" and that's it. So don't fuss around. I wish they had Sriracha and some more legit hot sauces but at the price they're slangin, I'll take it. There is one jar of crusty chiles on the counter. It worked but not ideal. Check it out.

I work just down the street from this place, so I have gone here quite a few times now. The staff is sweet and friendly even though the language barrier is a tad rough. Everything I've had on the menu has been above par in my eyes. Their lunch specials are a great price always tasty. But if you plan on ordering for a couple people then I suggest calling ahead because this is definitely not what you would call fast service. I've sat in the building for 20+ minutes just for my one order.

Standard Chinese, stopped in on a Sunday. Ended up with three dinner meals while trying to explain I wanted ginger chicken with green beans - we got chicken stir fry with veg, green beans with ground pork and general's chicken. Next time, I'll just order chicken and broccoli off the menu and make it easy on everyone involved. Total came to about $30 for three dinners with white rice and a won ton soup.

A year or so back, there was a "best of" list somewhere -- might have been the Best of Charleston that the City Paper does each year. Anyhow, I noted that Golden Garden in Mt Pleasant was chosen as a staff pick for best Chinese food. The thing that caught my eye was a specialty eggplant dish. I loves me my eggplant, but my dearly beloved is just not as keen on it as I am. So, I don't make it often. So, when the aforementioned dearly beloved goes out of town, I make sure one meal for me is from Golden Garden. The eggplant with garlic sauce is, indeed, superb. I'm always tempted to try one of the other specials, or something from the daily specials white board, because they, too, look fabulous. But I have stayed true to my eggplant, for now. Though next time d.b. heads out of town, I just may pick up TWO dishes from the Golden Garden, so that I can try something else. Moderately prices, very nice staff, unpretentious place. Dine in or carry out. They also serve some Thai dishes/ And did I mention the eggplant is really good? P.S. It's highly likely that this place was formerly o n Johnnie Dodds Blvd, but now is in the Shelmore Shopping center, with Bi-Lo and Collective Coffee. It's off to the right of the grocery, as you face the front enterance.

The food was okay, nothing special, nothing terrible. However, they charged our credit card five dollars over what we signed for. They claimed that it would be returned in three days, that it was an automatic bank thing. This has NEVER happened at any other restaurant or store, and I am inclined to believe that this is bull. Upon further internet research, I found that they are taking other charges from customers without prior notification. This is crap.

I used to think Chinese takeout was the same everywhere but after trying this place (because it was close to my apartment in Runaway Bay), I learned I was very wrong. The egg drop soup was more orange than yellow and tasted burnt. Never have I ever not enjoyed egg drop soup before. So disappointing. The rest of the meal (tofu with vegetables and some chicken dish for the bf) were also lacking flavor and really nothing to look forward to. Thank heavens China East is also in that area because they are legit (and strongly recommended)! This is literally the only Chinese restaurant in Mt.P I would never frequent again. Maybe it was just a bad night, but with so much other competition it wouldn't be worth the risk or money to give a second chance.

I wasn't expecting much from this strip-mall take out restaurant with rental magazines stuffed near the doorway. But this was some of the best Chinese I've had in a long time. And I work in San Francisco's Chinatown neighborhood! I had the moo shu veggies and chow fun -- both vegetarian. They were better than most take-out places, and far cheaper. I'll be back!

Pretty standard Chinese take-out. Ordered a feast for three people on a Sunday evening, was ready for pickup in 15 minutes. Total came to about $30 for five dishes. Mu shu pork wasn't too soggy, but the dumplings were. Oh well.

Neighborhood Chinese take out or eat in. Large menu of modestly priced dishes. Crispy egg rolls. Pleasant staff. Portions are generous.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
